Voice Thing

Voice-Capable Instant Messaging Applications

In each application listed below, if Voice Thing! has been set as the default recording device (which the Voice Thing! installer does during the installation process), it should just work.

If, for some reason, Voice Thing! is not currently the default recording device, either because you manually changed it, or some other application did, you can refer to the instructions below to manually set up each application to use Voice Thing!.

Note: Voice Thing! does not introduce any delay of its own into voice chat. However, some (usually older) sound cards do introduce delay. If you are experiencing delay and find it objectionable, you might consider upgrading your sound card.

AIM

Note: The latest version of AIM simply uses the default recording device and consequently should just work. Some older versions allowed you to select the microphone source in a menu. Go to the AIM Preferences via the following menu choices:
My AIM --> Edit Options --> Edit Preferences.…

• In the left-hand list of categories, select Live Video and then click "Video/Audio Tuning."
